The murder weapon is planted on Jo, who is arrested and put on trial. Nobody in town wants to defend him, so Angela begs her father to do so. Karen may have survived the accident but it gave her a concussion which resulted in temporary amnesia. She could not remember the events that happened prior to and during the car accident. The police detectives handling the case were dubious thinking how convenient it was for Karen to feign amnesia so she could avoid being questioned. Let me start this whole she-bang by saying I almost DNFed this book in excess of 10 times. I’ll repeat that statement slower for maximum impact. I. ALMOST. DNFed. THIS. BOOK. TEN. BLOODY. TIMES. For those unfamiliar with my reading habits this is a HUGE deal. Like scream-it-from-the-rooftops level HUGE. I’m a compulsive book finisher. I NEVER DNF. But this book-- this book was my everest. Nothing beats end-of-summer blues like diving into a thrilling story—and this novel delivered. . . riveting.”
