About this deal

Sorcerous Chant: This unit can attempt the following psychic action: ‘ Sorcerous Chant (Psychic Action - Warp Charge 6): Any number of KAIRIC ACOLYTE PSYKER units from your army can attempt to perform this psychic action in your Psychic phase. If the action is a success, select one friendly THOUSAND SONS ARCANA ASTARTES PSYKER unit that is within 9” of the unit performing the psychic action and has not been selected for this action in this phase. You can attempt to manifest one additional psychic power with that unit this phase.’ Introduced in the new season of Warcry, Reactions are things that can be done in certain circumstances, but always during the enemy turn. They cost one action, so they can be used only by fighters that have not activated yet or are waiting. There are 3 universal reactions and one specific to each warband: the bottom half highlighted with Khorne Red, up to Mephiston Red, then Evil Sunz Scarlet, then finally Troll Slayer Having painted the Kairic Acolytes I think they are the most complex to paint of any of the units in the box, with only

out completed miniatures faster. All in all I think the unit looks great, I'm happy with the colour choices, and I'm

Aspirants: This unit has the ARCANA ASTARTES keyword for the purposes of all Thousand Sons Detachment abilities (Objective Secured, Brotherhood of Sorcerers, etc.). Burning Sigil of Tzeentch –Casting Value 5. Basically you roll a die which grants a random boon or bane and then select a unit to apply it to. Since you get to figure out the effect first it does at least prevent you from hurting your own guys (or benefiting your opponent) but random effects never seem to go the way you want when you need them (As Tzeentch prefers) and the low casting value means this can easily get swept off the field. Exceedingly cheap, at least, at 40 pts. C+ Ninety-Nine Feathers: They are skin-changers and sorcerers, a war-cabal of the Sideways City who serve the King of All Ravens. [2]

Treason of Tzeentch –Casting Value 5. Roll a die for each model in a unit and for each 6, deal a Mortal Wound. If any models are killed as a result of this, that unit has -1 to hit for the turn. A much more streamlined version of the old spell and I’m a big fan of it. You still gotta be smart with it though. Cast it on large units with 1 wound models, don’t bother against a 5 man squad of Orruk Brutes, that won’t really do anything for you. A- to Hit a friendly TZEENTCH DAEMON in melee if it is wholly within 12″ of a TZEENTCH DAEMON HERO. Not too fancy but damned appreciated. Tzeentch units have pretty terrible saves on average so giving them that extra layer of protection helps filter out blows. From the Crystal Labyrinth Artefacts and Command Traits are both divided into 3 tables: MORTAL, ARCANITE and DAEMON. Arcanite is a sort of in-between. Mortals are Arcanites, Tzaangors are Arcanites but not Mortals (or Daemons) and Daemons are never Arcanites. Mortal Artefacts Your units are pretty fragile, with some exceptions they have pretty below average saves. If you let your opponent break the distance between you they wont stand up in a straight up fight. A.) Randomly failing your psychic tests or being denied basically turns these guys into worse guard units.

Designers’ Commentary

The bases were painted Regal Blue, then a layer of Ardcoat applied. I then cut out plasticard into shapes found on the Some may carry a Scroll of the Dark Arts into battle, boosting their allies’ magical abilities. [1] Paradoxical Shield –A troll-y artefact and a personal favorite of mine. It adds +2 to saves but you must reroll successful saves for the bearer. Since your Hero will now probably have a 3+ or even a 2+ those are pretty good odds but youre still playing a dangerous game. As the rules seem to imply you can use a destiny dice if you don’t want to risk it, as Destiny Dice can never be rerolled. B We don’t like birds: Curseling, Fatemaster, Kairic Acolyte with Vulcarch, and 5 Acolyte with Paired Cursed Blades for an almost entirely human warband.

Infusion Arcanum –Casting Value 5. Gives the caster +1 to hit and +1 to wound for the turn. Slap this on a good combat hero like Ogroid Thamataurge or Curseling before sending him in to battle. B+ For every 10 models in this unit, up to 2 Kairic Acolytes can each be equipped with a different item from the following list: 1 scroll of dark arts; 1 vulcharc.Miguel Ángel Osuna Antúnez – Fyreslayers: Triple droths, some Vulkites, Hearthguard and our last Krondspine of this article. Curseling, Eye of Tzeentch new box will be soon available after releasing in the Arcane Cataclysm set

The Kairic Acolytes go to a great length to conceal their meetings where a Magister or a Kairic Adept would teach powerful spells or plot the next course of action. I've tested Scale 75 paints in general, which were a novelty to me at this point. Weirdly enough, I'm not a big fan. But also, this unit is very cheap, so I get that you don't want to make them too badass. These guys are sort of meant to be the "ranged answer" to Tzaangors, with an 18" shotgun and a Sorcerer-boost, so I didn't want to emphasise melee too much – the cursed blades/arcanite shields are an option, because those models exist, but making them especially buff in melee wasn't the intent. Partly because, as you've noted, that'd drive up their cost. Re-rolling wound rolls isn't much weaker than +1A, in practice, but it's less likely to explode. Then again, Chaos Cultists can get 2A and a pistol without trading on Tzaangor toes, so just making "Twin Cursed Blades" into a Chainsword/Brutal Assault Weapon might not be the worst idea. Would need to drop the AP-1 entirely to ensure the costing's okay compared to Cultists. Bolt of Tzeentch –Identical to the Mortal version, same evaluation applies. Note that despite being in 2 different schools the book explicitly states you cannot cast it twice in a turn. B Could be an interesting option for some alternative models or to start a Tzeentch Arcanite warband maybe integrating with an Enlightened box. Tips on painting a Tzeentch Arcanites Warband for WarcryThis is a solidly “OK” faction that in a book without Duplicitious Host would probably look a lot better. Screamers are better than they used to be and this faction makes them terrors. Guaranteed dispelling and scout rounds out the abilities with an all-around decent daemonhost. Mortal Covens The Cult of the Transient Form Aether-Eater Host – 1 Fateskimmer and 3-8 units in any combination of The Blue Scribes, Fateskimmer, Fluxmaster or Screamers of Tzeentch –If a unit from this battalion ever unbinds a spell in your opponent’s Hero phase, it regains D3 wounds and a screamer unit can attempt to unbind a spell in the same phase. It’s not bad actually and probably would work really well in a Hosts Arcanum list where you have a ton of Screamers as battleline. B with a thinned down wash of Guilliman Blue. The bags were painted with several patchy layers of thinned down Added to that, no less than 3 new Command Trait tables (one each for Daemons, Mortals and Arcanites), 4 new gifts and Artefact tables and two complete Spell Lores (lots of magic, as you might expect from the forces of the Chaos God of sorcery)! Arcane Armies – Before the first turn, one of your Wizards can automatically cast one of the Tzeentch Endless spells (if you brought them) and it can’t be unbound. Besides having a powerful spell on the field, you get a free Fate Point!
