Attraverso il racconto di queste tre donne, Cate Quinn aiuta il lettore ad abbattere ogni pregiudizio e ad accettarle per quelle che sono: donne con un passato di sofferenza che provano a riscattarsi.

These would be minor things but for the fact that the whole plot centers around religion, so to have such an obvious confusion of facts on the main subject matter was a head-scratcher to me. A compelling and memorable tale for readers of Tana French and those who enjoy the British TV show Happy Valley.

A few of the books on this list I’ve already been lucky enough to read, and the rest of them are all on my personal to-read pile for the weeks ahead—but I’m excited about all of them.

E nonostante il loro passato un po' travagliato, Cate Quinn è molto brava a farle empatizzare con il lettore. Her flight from police custody makes the case impossible to solve – and, for Walter, impossible to forget.

It comes from knowing what the big secret is – you kind of reverse engineer the logic, like telling a joke. The actions I took in pursuit of my desires, to better my lot and to extricate myself from an intolerable situation, these were unforgivable, depraved.

When Stacey meets Alistair Stuard, everything changes, propelling her towards a brand new future that even she did not see coming. One of my favorite things about the crime fiction genre is that it is so wide-ranging and elastic; it can include everything from light domestic suspense to dark, gritty serial killer thrillers. I understand I can change my preference through my account settings or unsubscribe directly from any marketing communications at any time. Brookmyre plays a cunning, careful game Guardian I didn't know what was going to happen next in this epic thriller. From Scottish crime master Christopher Brookmyre, Black Widow tells the potent story of a woman who thought she was too late for love, the man who falls for her ambition, and the secret selves that are poised, at any moment, to end everything.I'm sure the story would have got a bit more interesting as it went on, but it was very 'samey', and I am afraid to say, read quite poorly, with pauses in the narrative which spoiled the flow of the story.
