Since then, I feel they have all had success and Charlie has more than proved himself as a capable musician, gaining top 20 albums across multiple genres (Fightstar, solo-works). Never really been a fan, but I’m sure it’s at least better than that song they did for that dogshit Thunderbirds movie. It’s judgemental, poorly written and hard to pinpoint a moral or overarching topic beyond lines about where friends are in their lives and how they’re fat now and how the reminisce about bar fights and have faith that they’ll (I’m unsure if they is just the band or the band and their friends) be fine despite being old and drifting towards obscurity. million copies in the UK alone and their 2003 follow-up A Present for Everyone came very close to matching it.

Busted are a totally schooling in lazy formulaic songwriting in ‘Half Way There’ and sometimes it’s funny and sometimes it’s charming but mostly it’s just annoying. It’s why any sort of nuance is pitched right out of the window, something that gives an oddly self-congratulatory air to What Happened To Your Band? It’s quickly followed by the twice-previously recorded (by Bourne’s band Son of Dork and by McBusted for their self-titled album) ‘ What Happened To Your Band’ about the band’s split, which is given a new lease of life amidst this album of stylistic throwbacks and retro Busted vibes to become one of the album’s stand-out tracks. Busted have grown-up without growing old with their fourth album ‘Half Way There’ which is out now and currently sitting at Number 2 in the album charts. This isn’t the band to listen to for pioneering sonic experimentation or playful lyricism: they are what they are, or rather what they were. Busted have grown up, that is for sure – however, the band haven’t forgot what made them relevant and ultimately, popular. But as an album that "defines" the trío, this is the one, it runs light years around their first two albums, and then some.

James Bourne, Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis approached the new album with a simple goal in mind: “How do we make the ultimate Busted album? AltCorner is the promotional platform for alternative music, documenting upcoming artists and established alternative acts. It’s a super alienating song that only a few people in bands will relate to I guess, and even then not many. Going straight from Atlantis to Mars ‘race to mars’ changes the vibe a lot and is a really really weird song.Busted will hit the road on a major tour across the UK in March 2019 in support of their fourth album ‘Half Way There’, due out for release on 08 February 2019. Not least for a band whom everyone assumed had too wide a chasm creatively and professionally between themselves to warrant reuniting in the first place. It was the subsequent popularity of this rebellious nature they displayed however, that ultimately proved part of the catalyst for their 2005 split. They wrote more material than ever, much of it at Bourne’s apartment in North London where they spent so much time together back when they first started the band. Busted’s forthcoming arena dates introduce their new touring drummer, Eddy Thrower from modern rock heroes Lower Than Atlantis.

Two years later we made the move to our present address, 35 The Headrow, where we have remained ever since.

Nineties’ is one of the tracks which will claim a place alongside other Busted favourites such as ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Crashed The Wedding’.After all, that’s pretty much the only reason that Half Way There exists; it doesn’t push Busted forward as a band (something that Night Driver did), and it doesn’t add anything at all to the genre conversation, but as far as digging up note-perfect relics from the 2000s goes, it works like gangbusters. The started the campaign for the new album by playing three chaotic sold-out shows in a day at the 100 Club, and then dropped a throwback video for ‘Nineties’which revived the days of Top of the Pops, Blind Date, Nirvana and white-suited boy bands.
