I honestly have realized that I am someone who loves the tension of slow burn but hates the wait, again I am impatient, but the wait is so worth it.

As time passes, Elle, much to her own frustration, finds herself unable to fight the growing attraction she has for her brooding and mysterious husband, whom she only wanted to use as a means to an end for her own family's salvation. World-building was decent and always clearly portrayed, but I do wish it had been more evocative and more present in the storytelling.

I also really enjoyed seeing how Elle grapples with being accepted by the land to wield the power Fitz has bestowed on her. As any good character inspired by Darcy should be, Fitz is equal parts broody and devotedly fierce to the ones he loves. One downside, if you know the original story, you pretty much know/can guess the outcome here, but that didn't bother me much. Ich habe dieses Buch am „stuff your Kindle day“ kostenlos runtergeladen, da ein gothic pride and predjudice retelling genau mein Herbst-Geschmack ist.

The key to her salvation might be her arrogant, cold husband—the one she'd planned to rob and abandon. it had everything i loved about the cruel prince and everything i look for in a fantasy romance but with no spice and i loved it. There's a lot of smut books milling about at the moment so if that's your thing this might not be for you (but might be worth a go anyway? By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. This would be a great book to read in the fall because it has all of the spooky vibes with the haunted forest and castle, but of course any time is a good time for spooky-ness! A lot of the story follows the source material, making the pacing a little predictable—especially in the beginning. I don't think there's going to be a direct sequel either, but hopefully we get to see more of Elle and Fitz in Schade's future books.

Ok…rant over…oh wait…just a final general rant, can we just stop naming all fantasy novels like they are a 5 paragraph essay? Schade was born on the first day of summer in a small town in Michigan, only to end up in another small town in Ohio. Currently she lives in Ohio with her husband and fur babies, and surrounds herself with books and coffee on a regular basis. The writing and characterization were really solid, and there were a pleasant lack of typos (which I've been encountering a lot of in indie published works lately, to my great chagrin). So obviously I picked this up because it was a clean romance, and I don't need too many personal (albeit fictional) details in my life.Oh, and you can’t forget a magic world connected to nature and the seasons which I am always such a sucker for. The next one is a Mansfield Park retelling (if I remember correctly) and so already not one of my favorite JA books. Dive into this new world where danger and drama is always around the corner and even those closest to you can't be trusted.

The epilogue is devoted to wrapping up other character beats, but we don't really get to see Fitz and Elle starting their life together from a better place. Since there are approximately 9 zillion fae-themed fantasies nowadays, even a couple new twists on familiar mythology and tropes is nice.It just felt like the h was rejecting the H over and over again and it didn’t hit anywhere like Elizabeth rejecting Darcy felt. This a loose retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and the author does a good job of being faithful to that story. I also enjoyed her quirkiness about the contrast of the Victorian-styled human realm and the "impropriety" of the Fae realm. And the key to her salvation might be her arrogant, cold husband—the one she’d planned to rob and abandon. So think Pride and Prejudice but add in a fresh take on fae, magic, ghosts, murder, mystery, and so much more.
