It may have been a bit less refined and the furniture a bit more plastic, but it was vast improvement on the previous three outings. Plus the fact that Spy does all that and manages to feel new and fresh is probably down to the panache of the presentation. At the end of the film, Bond is caught in a compromising position with Russian agent Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) in a lifeboat. Sheridan dispels all of that by focusing on the exploitation market that cropped up and started to claim the box-office and entered popular culture via Benny Hill and the Carry On films.

Growing up in the US in the late 1960's and '70's, some of my favorite films and TV programs were from the UK, for the simple reason that they offered the best look at women! I did appreciate Sheridan defusing a touchy subject with humor, connecting back to the era of time he’s focusing on. Sean could sit at a table with a girl at a nightclub and either lean across and kiss her or stick a knife in her under the table and then say, 'Excuse me waiter, I have nothing to cut my meat with. One thing for sure- somewhere along the way the Bond series re-discovered its confidence and sparkle.

The final story wasn’t all too original either, being a re-hash of the megalomaniac threatens the world type yarn. On its own, Keeping the British End Up is a beautifully put-together coffee table book, if you don’t have children. Starring Robin Askwith, Diane Keen, Linda Hayden, Oliver Tobias, Sue Longhurst and many more, scenes from KEEPING THE BRITISH END UP!

So to enhance the "soft core" simulated sex, the comedic element was added in typical naughty British "seaside humour" style. Poor old Jim, all he does is stand around and say, ‘My name is Bond, James Bond,’ whereas a villain says ‘this is the end of the world, this is the end of civilization as you know it, Mr Bond!

Burgess had been a great fan of Fleming’s work, and had cited Goldfinger as a particularly great novel.

I worked as an extra for a few days and on the third day as I walked through the gates, a car pulled up alongside of me.Coaxing the facts from previously reluctant interviewees, Simon Sheridan has compiled the first definitive filmography of this long-overlooked genre, complete with an expanded filmography and rare and previously unpublished stills. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, readable and most importantly of all, filthy this is a book where the text matches the pictures for interest value. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.
