The latter, widow and mother of four children, acquired the Domaine Laurent-Perrier and ran the business while two of her sons, Maurice and Bernard, joined the French Resistance. Sadly, de Nonancourt passed away in 2010 and Laurent-Perrier is now managed by his two daughters, Alexandra and Stéphanie alongside Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet and has become one of the region's largest producers, they are perhaps best known for Cuvée Rosé, the most recognised rosé champagne on the planet. Founded over 200 years ago in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is one of the most distinguished family-owned Champagne Houses. Laurent-Perrier produces a range of pioneering Champagnes and has a reputation for challenging conventional techniques whilst honouring traditional values. By the time he retired from his role in 1983 Laurent-Perrier had introduced winemaking technology to enhance all the blends creating fruit forward styles in the lightly reductive style.

Made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, this is deliciously fresh and elegant, with a great balance of fruity fl avours and creamy texture. Perfectly balanced, with crisp flavours and finesse, it is also an ideal companion for fish, poultry and white meat. With this long time post disgorgement the champagne style really changes the colour goes quite copper orange, the fruits go that spectrum of dried fruits like plum, orange and raspberry with a soft creamy texture. Made with up to 55% Chardonnay and aged in cellars for a minimum of four years, La Cuvée is delicate yet complex with crisp citrus notes. With another war looking likely Eugenie sold the company in 1939 to Mary-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt.Sappy and broad in the mouth, offering intense red fruit and bitter citrus flavors underscored by chalky mineral and white pepper notes. Elegant and fruity at the same time with a quick invitation from bright, pure cherryish notes and then filled out handsomely by whiffs of chalky soils and well-integrated, rich and uplifting yeast-driven scents, this wine manages to be both vigorous and layered at one and the same time. This technique gives it the highly expressive bouquet and fresh berry flavours that have made it a benchmark for rosé Champagnes. I have also grown to be a great fan of the magnum, which ages in a grand fashion developing great winey qualities and Burgundian notions. It's citrus and white fruit notes and its remarkable balance, supported by a subtle effervescence, make it an ideal accompaniment to poultry and the finest fish.

Shows fine balance, with a vibrant tanginess to the flavors of black currant, strawberry, licorice and candied ginger. Tart raspberries, peppery green herbs, a small but intense sweet-salty-dark-sharp note of balsamic vinegar. Under de Nonancourt, Laurent-Perrier were the first House to use stainless-steel vats and the first House to create both a zero dosage champagne (Ultra Brut) and a non-vintage prestige cuvée (Grand Siècle). Michel Fauconnet joined Laurent-Perrier in 1973 and, since 2004, he has been the house's 3rd Cellar Master. The name “Laurent-Perrier” was created by Mathilde Emilie Perrier, widow of Eugène Laurent, who combined the two family names after the House was expanded.Rosé Champagne makes a perfect gift for Champagne lovers; Laurent-Perrier Rosé Champagne gift boxes will delight connoisseurs. Bernard observed that nature would never provide the perfect oenological year though the art of assemblage, LP could in fact create it. I love how, with time, it starts to show a wilder side of itself, with lovely dark, spicy tones and sous-bois undernotes. One of Champagne's most important figures in the 20th century, he officially took over in 1948 after a three-year apprenticeship at the Houses of Delamotte and Lanson. Laurent Perrier have invested heavily in more vineyards to give them greater control over the quality of fruit used.

It's not going to keep quiet as you enjoy your Valentine's dinner but may do a certain amount of interrupting. The production style is elegant, Chardonnay-driven, pure and fruit-forward and current Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet believes strictly in minimising oxidation. The House was built around 4 strong convictions: blending, a unique style, the Chardonnay grape variety and innovation. A rare Rosé Champagne made using the maceration (skin contact) technique, perfectly controlled by the winery, to give that extraordinary depth and freshness - a worldwide benchmark for its style. Distinguished by the chubby round hipped bottle, this rosé Champagne has become highly successful, created unusually from 100% Pinot Noir from the best vineyards, and using, for a few days only, the saignée method (contact with the red grape skins) rather than the addition of red wine. An innovator in Champagne, Laurent-Perrier was the first House to offer the successive breakthrough Cuvées of Grand Siècle, Cuvée Rosé, Ultra Brut and Alexandra Rosé Millesimé .

Laurent-Perrier truly does master the maceration method of making rosé, achieving an amazing textural silkiness and structural tension without ever showing too much tannin or bitterness. Laurent-Perrier was established in Tours-sur-Marne in 1812 and was the first family-owned independent Champagne House.Bright salmon in colour, with orange tones, this wine is produced by the maceration method using Pinot Noirs from 10 Montagne de Reims villages, including Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois and Tours-sur-Marne.
