Description

Though he does have a natural sadistic streak that is ingrained in his personality, his cruelty largely comes from the fact that he literally feeds on suffering. On several occasions, he has displayed polite and elegant mannerisms which contrast sharply with other more bestial behaviour undertaken at the same time. A suprise in a way that it was so uniquely different from everything I have ever read that I found myself reading it entirely through in the one sitting. What I was faced with after only two chapters was some of the most brutal horror and gore I’d read in a while.

I was like "Hell, I'm not interested in reading the adventures of a teenager who believes he's cool because he's a rebel". It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service. Dervish rushes to save Grubbs when he's threatened, then Grubbs takes his place and makes a bad game worse. Lord Loss kills people in the cruelest ways he can think of; in Bec he has the zombies of Orna's own children eat her alive all to provide him with a delicious meal. I'm going to say it, Dervish is still my favourite so far, freaking awesome with his slightly quirky ways.I know that the target audience is teenagers, and despite this, I would have given it 4 stars as it has a great storyline, however, the author was writing in first person as a teenage character. Along with sensing powerful magic in the Original Board and unlocking its secrets, Lord Loss also liked chess simply as a means of entertainment, showing a playful side.

The book repeats the formula of The Saga of Darren Shan and will no doubt be loved by Shan's many fans. Btw I’m an adult in my 50’s and have read a huge range of books so don’t let the fact that they are teen books put you off! But once he notices that Lord Loss is feeding off his misery and desperation, he puts on a disinterested façade and storms to victory. Anyway I remember reading this series when I was about 13/14 and really liking it (all of the disembowelling helped :D). Grubbs Grady has stiff red hair and is a little big for his age, which means he can get into R-rated movies.Other interests include long walks, watching soccer (he's a Tottenham Hotspur and Ireland fan), listening to pop and rock music, theatre, worldwide travel, sampling the delights of both gourmet cuisine and finger-licking junk food, and dreaming up new ways to terrify his readers! This disturbing tale in the supernatural, zombie/horror genre has a refreshingly inventive storyline and credible and likeable protagonists the reader can really root for. Lord Loss also has an obsession with chess, something that Grubbs Grady considers stupid and pointless. He doesn't have a heart, instead he has a hole on his left chest filled with snakes and he's got 8 hands!
