About this deal

First off, let’s just find out the fundamentals! What exactly is an air tent and why would you want one? Inflatable tents are exactly the same as an any other tent, except for one significant difference. In place of traditional metal, fibreglass or plastic poles traditional poles, the tent has inflatable beams, which can be pumped up to provide a sturdy structure. How to put up a Berghaus Air 8– is it easy? Berghaus have a reputation of making great, high quality outdoor gear. From clothes to climbing gear. They may not be the cheapest, but when you buy a Berghaus product, you know it will accomplish it’s purpose in life with aplomb (whatever a plomb might be!). Absolutely love the tent. With both bedrooms up there isn't that much living space, but we only used one, so we had plenty of space, plus the porch was used for the table and all our cooking stuff, so that gave us a lot more room. We certainly have no regrets with purchasing this tent, and our family will continue to give it a good hammering throughout the coming season (whichever one that may be). Actually we should give a shoutout to the windows on the Antrim – they are excellent. The ‘glass’ needs to be seen to be believed and the Diamond Clear name they have chosen is very apt. These are up there with the best windows on the tent scene at the moment. Lounge and Sleeping Area

In the living area there is a door at the front with a porch, which has a window and another window next to it. At the rear there is also a door with a window and a window next to it. Let’s talk specs for the Antrim 600XL. It comes in a rather elegant Navy Blue colour and is reminiscent of the Coleman Weathermaster 6XL in terms of looks and design. Two or more bedroom compartments – it’s our opinion that it’s both warmer and more private to have multiple sleeping quarters within a family tent than all sleeping in the same area. The drive to recycle old plastic is an excellent initiative because it helps reduce the amount of plastic going to landfill and harming the environment for future generations. I’m not particularly “green”, but for me it’s a no-brainer to choose a product which can make a difference in this way – especially when you consider that the Joro 600XL is made with the equivalent of 261 plastic bottles! Dimensions and Layout Hook up the hose and inflate the beam to 4.5 PSI. Inflating past this number could result in damage to the tent, so be careful. Once inflated, replace the valve cover to keep air from escaping.

The Authors Corner

We spent three weeks in the Berghaus 8 man blow up tent during our summer holidays in France and Spain and we look forward to many more years of family camping in it. As a family of 5 now, it’s definitely the most budget-friendly way to holiday and one of the most free and fun! The Antrim is slightly shorter than the Coleman however (600cm vs 665cm) and less wide (380cm vs 450cm) which needs to be borne in mind – do you need the extra real estate? Height is ample at 210cm in both. The standard polyester 401 is smaller and lighter at 42kg, with the TC 401 weighing in at 54kg. A noticeable increase in weight from the polycotton fabric there. There are five airbeams in total which take a fair bit of pumping because of the height of the overall structure. There’s a lot of air in them there beams! However, there is one piece of camping kit that is worth it’s weight in gold and we don’t know how we could ever manage without it again – we have been spoilt.

One huge noticeable timesaver was not having to fix an inner tent via loops and hooks to an external shell. The tent is a single unified component – the bedrooms and living space are pre-attached to the framework so there is no additional connecting or construction needed once you’ve blown up the tent. The Hayling 4 comes with all the features we recommend for tents. – it has an access flap for an electric hookup cable and exceedingly good waterprooofness – the hydrostatic head is 6000mm for the main tent and 10000mm for the groundsheet. You won’t be getting wet!

I would suggest that even though the main tent is very large if you have, like us, lots of equipment like chairs, tables, cooker, fridge etc (we like to glamp lol) that you invest in the porch. Buying the porch will free up the living room for the chairs and table when you want to chill at night, playing board games or we watch a film off the laptop if the weather is bad. The drive to recycle old plastic is an excellent initiative because it helps reduce the amount of plastic going to landfill and harming the environment for future generations. I’m not particularly “green”, but for me it’s a no-brainer to choose a product which can make a difference in this way – especially when you consider that the Antrim 600XL is made with the equivalent of 301 plastic bottles! Dimensions and Layout We also use the porch area to dump all of our wet and muddy walking gear. This means that the main living space doesn’t get as dirty as it would if we were tramping about through the entire tent. It makes for a great changing area, and all in all it allows us to keep the main living area less cluttered, cleaner and easier to get around. The Ascension 601 TC is a proper 6-person tent with a 4.4m bedroom width split between the six people. This is a significant space of 73cm average width per person – much higher than the typical 60cm given to each person in cheaper tents. The 401 also has similar space per person.
